There are hiking trails located all over Jackson Hole—near town, on Teton Pass, and in Teton Village—but if you only have an afternoon or a couple of days to hike, then we recommend heading straight to Grand Teton National Park. Find some of our favorite trails below.
Easy
Phelps Lake at the Laurance S. Rockefeller Preserve
3 miles round trip to the lake and back. Our secret is to go during Happy Hour for fewer crowds—just pack a beer, a little snack, a swimsuit, and bear spray. For a little more fun, trek a couple of extra miles to the jumping rock.
Bradley & Taggart Lakes
Located in southern Grand Teton National Park, this area is often less busy than nearby Jenny Lake. The hike to Taggart and Bradley Lakes is about five miles round trip with 500 feet of elevation gain, while Taggart Lake alone offers a shorter option. The trailhead sits 2.5 miles from the Moose Visitor Center, and parking tends to fill up, especially midday. plan for an early or late arrival.
Granite Canyon
A quick in-and-out hike close to Teton Village. Great for a short walk and to easily get out into nature.
Medium
String Lake to Hidden Falls
Do this hike for our favorite view of the Tetons. Commencing at the String Lake parking lot, this hike offers breathtaking views of the Tetons. Trek along Jenny Lake up to Hidden Falls for waterfall views. About 4.5 miles out and back.
Death Canyon to Phelps Lake
A quieter alternative to Phelps Lake via Death Canyon, with scenic views of the lake along the descent. Stop at a beach (2 miles) or continue to the jumping rock (2 more miles). Moderate, with a climb back up to finish.
Hard
Delta Lake
Worth the 7.5 miles and 2,300 feet elevation gain for gorgeous, up-close views of the Grand Teton. Start early, download your AllTrails map in advance, and be prepared for some boulder scrambling.
Bridger Gondola & Ariel Tram
For a solid workout from Teton Village, follow the Wildflower Trail from the base of the ski mountain up to the top of the gondola (5 miles) or tram. You can also hike from the top of the gondola to the top of the tram. If you’d rather skip the descent, you can ride back down for free.

Weekly rodeos take place on Wednesday and Saturday evenings throughout the summer at the Teton County Fairgrounds near Jackson. Events include bull riding, bronc riding, roping, and barrel racing.
